I was sitting and talking with my friend Bill the other day discussing local and world news when he changed the subject.
“Let me tell you about this vegan bread I bought over here at the Farmers Market,” he said. “I bought a loaf to try it out. At home I took out a slice and toasted it to have with my breakfast, and when I took a bite it was awful. Bland and no flavor.”
“So I threw it out onto the patio for the birds and went about my chores. A few hours later I noticed that the birds had pecked at it but didn’t take it. I also noticed that the ants were crawling around it, but even they didn’t want it.”
“The next day I went out on the patio and there was that same slice of bread just sitting there untouched. You know I have little mice around my house and even they did’t touch that bread. There wasn’t ever a nibble. So I picked it up and threw it and the rest of the loaf away. If the animals and insects wouldn’t eat it then I sure wasn’t going to either.”
