“So my boyfriend came home and said, ‘there’s a random kite thing floating around floating near Carmelita’s and it had lights all around it. I didn’t see a string as if someone lost it, and I didn’t see anyone.’
But THEN he tells me the best part. He’s like, ‘I drove past it and I looked in the rear view and it was gone.’
So if you’re neighbors with the white Silverado and black Camaro, and you don’t see the truck move at all, we got abducted or murdered. Call the cops, tell them it was (Close Encounters) of the 4th kind.”
This is one of the many posts on Facebook about Steve the Kite Man’s kite. There are posts on Facebook from people in Borrego Springs who actually think Steve’s kite is a UFO. One man even posted that he called the National UFO Reporting Center after seeing Steve’s kite.
“I don’t want to tell them it’s a kite,” Steve told me, “because I don’t want to dispel their beliefs that it’s a UFO.”
